GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Cenosphere is a lightweight, inert, hollow sphere made largely of silica and alumina and filled with air or inert gas, typically produced as a byproduct of coal combustion at thermal power plants.
Features include:
Colour: Offwhite to light grey
Density: 0.4 – 0.8 g/cm³
GENERAL APPLICATIONS/ USES
- Used as a structural lightweight filler
- Used in coatings to control infrared radiation, giving those coatings an advantage over ones that merely attempt to limit thermal conductivity
- Petroleum Drilling
- Plastic and Polymers
- Used in light weight concrete
